ABUJA – VICE President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo Monday evening held closed-door meeting with the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and the Lamido Adamawa, Aliyu Musdafa, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Although the agenda of the meeting was not made public, it was learnt that the parley was not unconnected with the recent clashes between Fulani herdsmen and villagers in Adamawa State.
Recall that it was reported that scores of villagers in farming communities were killed in the mayhem, prompting Osinbajo to pay an unscheduled visit to the victims in the state last week.
A source privy to the meeting hinted that it was in continuation of efforts to ensure that the crisis did not continue through reprisal attacks.
The monarchs were accompanied by some community leaders of affected areas in Adamawa, who were said to have come to state their side of the story in the mayhem, in which Fulanis were accused of being the aggressors.
As at press time, a statement was being awaited from the presidency on the resolutions reached at the parley.
