BIRNIN KEBBI—FEDERAL Government, Monrday, said it has given out N5 billion to local miners to boost the mining industry in the country.
The Minister of Mines and Industry, Mr. Kayode Fayemi, made this disclosure at Garin Auwal in Fakai Local Government Area of Kebbi State, while addressing local miners.
Kayode further stated that the money will be given to local miners as a loan, adding that “each local miner is supposed to register with the Ministry of Environment or the state office of the Ministry of Mines and Industry of his/her state of origin to get the loan.
“We understand that the local miners are honest and sincere in term of contract agreements, only that they took more time than professionals to reach or get what they are requested to obtain.”
The minister, however, advised the local miners to coordinate themselves and abide by the rules governing mining.
Mr. Fayemi was accompanied by the Minister of State, Mine and Industries, Abubakar Bwala, Governor Abubakar Bagudu and other top government officials.
